Foxconn Chairman: Vietnam Emerging as a Focal Point of the New Global Supply Chain
Foxconn recognizes Vietnam as a strategic destination in the global supply chain, driven by its open policies, strong growth, and modern manufacturing foundation in the AI era.
At the official session of the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum on the morning of November 26, Brand Cheng, Chairman of the Board of Foxconn Industrial Internet, stated that Vietnam is becoming one of the highlights of the global supply chain, thanks to a positive policy environment and outstanding growth indicators. This is why Foxconn continues to expand investment and strengthen its presence in Vietnam.
Vietnam’s total export turnover has surged from USD 48.6 billion in 2007 to an estimated USD 391 billion in 2025, with high-tech sectors such as electronics accounting for 35%. FDI inflows have also grown steadily, from USD 20 billion to USD 31.5 billion over the same period, while per capita income has risen from USD 926 to over USD 5,000. According to Mr. Cheng, these figures reflect Vietnam’s reform efforts and open economic policies.
In the first six months of 2025, Vietnam’s GDP growth reached 7.5%, among the highest globally. Electronics exports for the first ten months of the year reached USD 87.3 billion, up 48% year-on-year—a growth rate Mr. Cheng described as “very impressive.”
As the world enters the “teenage stage of AI,” computing capacity has become a decisive factor. Foxconn is applying AI comprehensively in design, operations, and production. In Vietnam, through partnerships with NVIDIA and other technology companies, the group has implemented multiple AI-driven production lines. Foxconn’s Bac Giang factory is now among the most advanced facilities globally and is being developed into an international technology hub for data centers, chips, and AI products.
Mr. Cheng noted that Foxconn’s growth rate in Vietnam remains at 85–90%, indicating significant room for expansion. However, to attract sustainable investment, Vietnam needs to continue developing its workforce, increase local content, ensure input materials, and promote automation and digitalization based on AI.
He emphasized that the global supply chain is shifting toward a “multi-layered, intelligent collaboration” model, where efficiency and resilience must go hand in hand. In this trend, Vietnam is advancing rapidly to become a next-generation manufacturing hub, combining human talent, automation, digitalization, and AI.
