A Strong Bridge Between the Vietnamese and Cambodian Business Communities

The Vietnam–Cambodia Business Association has become a strong bridge between the business communities of the two countries, contributing actively to promoting bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

On September 28–29, in Phnom Penh, the Vietnam–Cambodia Business Association (VCBA) held its first Congress for the 2025–2029 term.

The congress was attended by more than 100 delegates from 63 member enterprises, members of the Advisory Board, and the Association’s specialized committees.

Representatives from the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, the Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese (BAOOV), and representatives of business associations from Tây Ninh, Đồng Tháp, An Giang provinces and Cần Thơ city also attended the event as guests.

At the congress, delegates reviewed the Association’s development journey and outstanding achievements over the past year since its establishment on January 30, 2024. After its founding, VCBA’s leadership quickly began their work, making continuous efforts and achieving notable results in the Association’s initial operational phase.

With the goal of promoting Vietnam–Cambodia trade relations, this congress also served as an opportunity for networking, business cooperation, and trade connection among VCBA members in particular, as well as between the broader business communities of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Speaking at the Congress, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ affirmed that the Association has become a strong bridge between Vietnamese and Cambodian businesses, while actively contributing to promoting bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

Highly appreciating VCBA’s growth since its early days, Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ emphasized that Vietnamese enterprises operating in Cambodia not only generate economic benefits, contribute to the budgets of both countries, create jobs for Cambodian people, and carry out social welfare activities, but also serve as “ambassadors of friendship,” strengthening bonds and promoting practical cooperation between the two countries.

VCBA and its member enterprises have organized meaningful activities to support the Vietnamese-origin community and Cambodian people facing difficulties.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ praised the practical and effective contributions of Vietnamese enterprises in general and VCBA member enterprises in particular in recent times. The efforts, sense of responsibility, and contributions of these enterprises and VCBA to the community have been contributing to building a traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainable relationship between the two countries.

Regarding the Association’s future direction, Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ recommended that VCBA implement communication measures, promotional efforts, and specific plans to attract more Vietnamese enterprises and Vietnamese-origin individuals to join the Association; strengthen unity and harmony among its members; enhance mutual support; and promote its role as a bridge between Association members and between the business communities and authorities of both countries.

At the congress, delegates participated in discussion sessions, presenting various reports on challenges and opportunities in business development, promoting Vietnam–Cambodia trade cooperation, and increasing the presence of Vietnamese goods in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The congress elected the Executive Committee for the 2025–2029 term with 25 members and a Supervisory Board with 3 members.

As of the end of August, VCBA had admitted 63 member enterprises, accounting for about 15% of the total number of Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business in Cambodia. Notably, among the VCBA’s members are many Vietnamese-origin and Cambodian enterprises and entrepreneurs.

The first VCBA Congress concluded successfully, marking a new milestone in the development of the Vietnamese business community and the Vietnamese-origin community in Cambodia./.
